Basics of compressed air pressure and flow
Flow & Pressure are 2 common words used in air compressed air systems, and the relationship between the two is often understood wrongly. And this will always end up Choosing an inappropriate compressor for the facility which may not be able to manufacture products also waste energy that increases the production costs.
Look at the relationship between Flow and Pressure.
Flow: It is the ability for a compressor to continue performing the task and amount of flow depends on the length of time needed to complete the task in a compressed air system. Typically, its measured in CFM/ LPS / LPM/ Cubic Meter per Min / Cubic Meter Per Sec / Cubic Meter per Hour at a specific Pressure.
Pressure: Its ability to perform a certain amount of work at any given point in time in the compressed air system. The compressor must provide the pressure (force) needed to perform the job. Typically, its measured in Kg/Cm2/ Bar/ PSI etc.
